How do you create a wedding day with quickly changing weather patterns of the summer season? Well, with the sky presenting a sun kissed morning and then clouds sporadically rolling in, this team shows us that with a wedding planning team prepared to adjust to the unknown, anything is possible! Taking place on the grounds of Strong Mansion on Surgarloaf Mountain with historical architecture housing this team’s editorial layout, we are taken into a wedding day that dreams are made of.
Using hues from citrus elements, Amanda Adams Photography began building a wedding mood board on Pinterest over the span of a year, curating details she envisioned for a bride on her wedding day. Sourcing a professional wedding planning team to bring your vision to fruition proves that no two weddings must be alike. This bride’s wedding day is full of timeless pieces and heirloom goodies, like the custom wedding vow book from (our dear friend) Wedding Story Writer, and soft jewels (from another dear DGM friend) Petals and Stones. Romance is all around our bride on her special day!
In keeping with her citrus wedding color palette, Amanda enlisted the styling expertise and floral artistry of Ginger & Blooms to surround the design with hints of bold yellows and warm oranges with touches of organic greens. To offset the boldness of this bride’s wedding bouquet, wedding stationery was done in soft complimenting citrus tones by Allison Dee Calligraphy. And we love the custom paper that was used by Allison to create a sense of romance! Fold that all of that into the vintage rentals from White Glove Rentals and a couture wedding cake from Sweets by E with words of love in calligraphy wrapping around the base and you have a picture perfect bridal inspiration to build your own summer wedding from.

Lauren, Alyssa (from Ginger & Blooms), and I had a collaborative Pinterest board that I started about a year ago. Little by little we were adding and changing ideas in order to create a shoot that we all had envisioned. It took a lot of work, but we took off running with the citrus theme. Originally we were hoping to use kumquats, but Lauren did some research on the florals planning and discovered that they were no longer in season for us. Not to worry though, she pieced together the perfect arrangements to make the lemons, limes, and sliced oranges sing. White Glove Rental provided us with the most perfect goblets and flatware. And Alyssa added pops of blue in the plates she chose. Our cake artist and calligrapher worked together to create a beautiful hand-scripted quote running along the top of the base tier on our cake. Planning for our shoot went along perfectly, with no major bumps in the road and I arrived excited and ready to shoot loads of film!

About two hours into shooting the light started to change for me quite quickly and unexpected. Loud thunder started rolling in and we all began working as quickly as we could to wrap up. Alyssa and my assistant began loading the rentals back into our van as I finished capturing some more images of Lauren. Poor Lauren was such a champ! She withstood the heat and humidity, on top of the sudden rain that day – all with a huge smile on her face. The last few images I captured of Lauren with the calligraphy banner were actually shot in the rain. Just like a real wedding day, you can’t control the weather! We just rolled with the punches and we’re all so happy with how the film scans turned out! We hope you love it as much as we do.
