There may be few moments in life as sweet as the time spent capturing your Anniversary among the beauty of Venice. That is exactly what Caroline and Bram did, bringing along film photographer, Whitney Huynh of Tulle and Grace. The architecture and color palette of Venice created a romantic backdrop for this mid-morning anniversary shoot, while also incorporating a private ride along Italy’s waters topped of the romantic moments that Whitney had a chance to capture. There was not a detail missed in this celebration between the lovely floral designs, Caroline’s soft hair updo, and not one but two incredible dresses that she wore. Traveling the streets of Venice provided this couple the rare opportunity to capture their love in an unfolding documentation on film. There was even a special anniversary table in a quaint alley, adorned with organic greens, moody purples, and calligraphy by The Little North Sea Studio.
From Whitney of Tulle and Grace
“There is no sound more torturous to me than that of my phone alarm clock. Every time it goes off I just want to bury my head in my pillow and pray it goes away. I’ve never been a morning person, but this morning was important and I knew I needed to get up. Out of bed, I threw on some clothes, no makeup, and put my messy bedhead hair up in a bun. There was no time to look pretty at 4:30 a.m.
Simone & I were on a mission. Our clients were staying in a town up the road and had to take a bus into the water city that arrived at 5:30. With a 45 minute walk through the twisty turning streets and 11 bridges to cross, we set out to pick them up at the station. It’s so strange to walk through Venice at this time of day. For the first time I felt it’s authenticity. There were no tourist in site. Just sweet older Italian men opening their store fronts, the smell of freshly baked croissants, local couples returning home from a night out sipping wine, and newly rolled pasta on drying racks. This is the Venice I’d been waiting to see.
We arrived at the station and met our clients Caroline and Bram who were kind enough to get up this early and meet us before St. Marks square was crawling with people. Walking back to our Airbnb for hair and makeup we talked about their travels and the plan for our day. It was the perfect time to get to know them better. Stopping only for much needed espresso we started our shoot, which ended up lasting all day. Our brave clients endured a truly magical day with us in Venice and we are so happy with the results. According to my fitbit we walked 15 miles that day and every step though those cobbled streets was more than we could have dreamed.”

Meet Whitney Huynh
Hi, I’m Whitney Huynh! I am a fine art film photographer living my dream in the Southeast. Growing up in Nebraska, I always dreamed of living in the city, and my dream came true when I married my best friend and we moved to Atlanta, GA. I love a good craft beer, hiking in the mountains, drinking espresso (especially the Italian kind), eating ice cream for breakfast, watching Netflix in my pajamas all day, learning to cook new foods, and kayaking at the lake.
I started my career shooting digitally with a Canon Mark II, and still do from time to time, however film stole my heart after losing my grandfather to Cancer last year. Being a film photographer himself, he gave me his old Canon EF and a pack of expired film and I never looked back. I shoot with a Contax 645 nearly 80% of the time, with a bit of digital in between. To me, film is life. There is so much emotion, feeling, and depth to it that digital just doesn’t have. I believe in it with all my heart and I know that after seeing your wedding day caught on film, you will too!
